Prabhat Mittal is a Professor of Business Data Processing (Management) at Satyawati College (Evening), University of Delhi, where he has taught since 2003 and has held a professorship since 2018. He holds a Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, an M.Phil. in Operational Research from the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota, USA. He qualified CSIR-NET in Mathematical Sciences and was an Associate of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla.
His research bridges three fields. The first is student community engagement and higher education for the Sustainable Development Goals, on which he published the Springer volume Community Engagement for Sustainable Practices in Higher Education: From Awareness to Action (2024) and directs two ICSSR-funded projects. The second is applied statistics and data analytics — structural equation modelling, predictive analytics, impact evaluation and bibliometrics. The third is financial econometrics and supply chain analytics, including volatility modelling, wavelet-based forecasting and corporate governance research.
He has served as Project Director, Project Investigator or Consultant on studies funded by the ICSSR, the University Grants Commission, the Bureau of Police Research & Development, the Himachal Institute of Public Administration and the University of Delhi, and as statistical analyst on national surveys for the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and the World Health Organization. This work spans rural development, women’s participation in MGNREGA, panchayat leadership, police accountability, sanitation campaigns and indigenous food systems in North-East India.
He has authored or edited eight books, published in journals of Springer, Elsevier, Wiley, IEEE, Emerald, MDPI and Taylor & Francis, and has been a resource person at more than 100 faculty development programmes and workshops on research methodology and data analysis using SPSS, AMOS, SmartPLS, R, EViews and SAS.
